We all know that Mr. Nolan and his staff has always had inspiration for his Dark Knight movies from multiple sources of the Batman mythos.  With Joker, he used over four sources to inspire his story. Could this image be a glance as to what stories will he be basing this third installment of the Nolanverse Batman franchise.  Well, nobody is saying a thing, but have to say that the “Broken Bat” storyline from the comic books was pretty intense and definitely makes for good resource material.  Now enjoy the teaser poster as released by WB:

batmanlockdownDo you own an iPad 2, iPhone 4SiPod Touch  and can’t have enough Arkham city in your life?  Well, search no more.  The people at WB Interactive Entertainment have created ARKHAM CITY:  LOCKDOWN for you to play in your device.  It is a one on one combat game and you can even fight Joker.  here is the report by Daniel Lopez for INTOMOBILE.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are games that finally got gamers to believe that not only can superhero games be good, but if developed by the right studio, it can sell millions and be in the running for Game of the Year by many a publication. Those of you who are looking for more Batman goodness can now look to your iOS device as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.

First of all, you should be aware the developer behind Batman: Arkham City Lockdown is NetherRealm Studios and not the developer of the console & PC versions of Batman: Arkham City, Rocksteady Studios. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t in capable hands as if you played the recently released console version of Mortal Kombat, then you’ll know just what kind of content NetherRealm can deliver.

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown has players assuming the role as Batman himself as he faces off in one-on-one combat, similar to that of Infinity Blade, against the likes of The Joker, Two-Face, Solomon Grundy and iOS-exclusive Deathstroke. Players will be able to upgrade Batman’s arsenal, as well as gain access to unlockable content like additional skins to play with. For those of you how have an Apple TV, you’ll also be able to play Batman: Arkham City Lockdown on your HDTV using iOS 5′s AirPlay feature from your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S which is a welcome addition as the game looks gorgeous.

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown is now available for all iOS compatible devices and is selling for $5.99. If you’re a fan of Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Infinity Blade, then this might be a game worth looking into.

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown ($5.99) – [iTunes Link]

Premise: The inmates have escaped and Batman has his hands full defeating an army of henchmen and some of his most iconic villains. Scour the rooftops and the seedy underbelly of Gotham City through a series of one-on-one battles with the Joker, Two-Face and more, as well as the Batman: Arkham City Lockdown exclusive — Deathstroke. Choose from several Batman skins and power-ups as you punch, kick and combo your way to cleaning up Gotham City

Here is a video of what  you can expect in the game:

Tony was kind enough to share one page from DETECTIVE COMICS #4 on sale today.  His art does not cease to be amazing as well  as the storyline, though I must admit, I am a little hesitant as to where the Joker is heading.  I’m such a traditionalist where storylines are concerned…well, we’ll see what happens.  In the meantime, please enjoy the plethora of Jokers in one page…

Here is another beautiful statue set issued by DC DIRECT this year that the Joker museum was lucky to get a hold of . It is not clear where the original concept came from, but from Joker’s attire I would say it was somewhat inspired by the showdown in IMPULSE #50, at least losely.  I personally like Joker’s ‘fresh’ clothes.  They are not the overused purple suit or the old straitjacket, but he sports a vest and a shirt more atone with the early 1940-50 style.

  • Release date (DC Direct) September 11, 2011 (But finally released on October 19, 2011)
  • Gotham City’s greatest hero and his deadliest foe battle for supremacy of the city! Each character is displayed on a specially designed stand-alone base intended to “interact” with the other statues in the series and to be displayed in a myriad of ways. The statues can pivot independently on their bases and rotate their heads to customize and direct the action. Collect the other statue sets in the series! Mix and match them to create your own showdown or combine them all in one ultimate battle statue
  • Statue designed and sculpted by Tim Bruckner
  • Limited Edition (750 issued), Hand painted, cold cast porcelain
  • Measurements:
    • Joker:  8 inches tall x 6 inches wide x 4 inches deep
    • Batman:   7.5 inches tall x 4 inches wide x 4.5 inches deep
  • Each set is packaged together in a 4 color box with COA

This week’s JOKER ART FOR THE MASSES comes from a commission made by renowed comic book artist JASON ALEXANDER known from the series ABE SAPIEN and POISON ELVES.

What I like most about this picture is that, similar to ALEX ROSS’ “Tango with the Devil” ,Joker and Harley are together in the picture, with Joker in the spotlight and Harley as an ornament.  This in my opinion shows successfully the relationship between these two rogues.  Not that I condone any of this behavior, but I imagine Joker as a man so full of himself, that nothing but himself matters.  Everything else (including people) are just props for one of his plans, an ornament in his canvas of murder, but never a person…always a thing.

In here, Harley becomes an object again, a ‘table’ where Joker is supporting himself casually, smiling at the camera and ignoring Harley who stands like a doll, without an expression.  Even the guns in his hands have more prominence in the picture than the poor Harley that precariously tries to fulfill her pudding’s whims.  This nice piece was made in pen and ink around  2000 for a fan.
