Hey Jokerholics.

I just was browsing for some research for the JOKER MUSEUM and accidentally found this Joker-Harley kit….and my jaw dropped.  It’s Alex Ross’ famous TANGO WITH EVIL! The statue is a commission made in 2007 and the artist is Erick Sosa.  It was posted by HERE BE MONSTERS at www.statueforum.com.  It is just amazing and don’t know if there are any kits available for sale but if there are…I need to get myself one so if anyone is selling, please contact me to talk some business.

In the meantime,  look at the amazing work on this piece…

WHAT IS DC WAITING TO ISSUE AN OFFICIAL STATUE LIKE THIS????

Dec 052011

For those out there searching frantically for more Joker statues, search no more.  2012 promises to be a good year for Joker collectors as many goodies are going to be available. I have been able to gather a summary of the new Joker statues to be released in 2012 so you can make your wish list as to which ones you would like to get and which ones you want to put in the trash (let’s admit it…not all Joker statues are made the same and though we are all Jokerholics, there are some statues that are just not at our standards).  Anyways, that would be for you to decide as these nice statues are coming our way:

  1. SIDESHOW JOKER PREMIERE STATUE AND SIDESHOW EXCLUSIVE VARIANT
    • This one actually, I have posted before when I reported Sideshow’s previews at SDCC this year and a later update on the figure.  The good thing is that I was able to get a hold of some pics of the variant version this time.  The statue, to be released late in the second quarter of 2012, captures the Clown Prince of Crime in approximately 1:4 scale, with an intricate real fabric costume that features a fully lined topcoat with pose-able tails. The figures is extremely detailed, a characteristic that has set Sideshow ahead of its competitors. This is a real work of art.
    • Price $349.99   (If ordered through Sideshow site which offers a Flex payment plan for those interested)

sideshowjoker1sideshowjoker2sideshowjoker3joker3hottoyspremj07hottoyspremj06hottoyspremj01hottoyspremj04hottoyspremj00

    • The Sideshow Exclusive variant sports a slightly different pose and a hat. ( But I personally prefer the pose in the regular Premium edition.  The malicious look fits Joker well).

2.  BLACK AND WHITE: LOTD #50 JOKER STATUE

    •  This would be the third version of the Clown Prince of Crime under this collection.  The honor goes to Brian Bolland’s representation of the Joker as he drew it on the cover of Legends of the Dark Knight #50.  The release date is still to be determined, but the sculpture has already being showcased on NYCC (and I didn’t see it at SDCC)
    • Photo courtesy of Toys News International
    • No releasedate at present time

3.  JUST US LEAGUE OF STUPID HEROES JOKER STATUE series 2

    • Ok, I don’t really know where this one comes from, don’t even remember seeing a series one, but what the heck…it is another Joker sculpture coming out next year.  This series will include a Batman and Robin sculptures as well, and I don’t know you guys, but this Joker reminds me too much of the version of the Clown Prince made by MAD magazine.   Maybe I’m seeing things.
    • Produced by DC DIRECT and expected to be released on September 2012
    • Photo courtesy of Toys News International

4.  DC UNIVERSE JOKER AND HARLEY STATUES (sold individually)

    • I had also reported on this one so just a brief reminder:
    • Release date: Joker available  December 2011, Harley will be available Early 2012 (February?)
    • Based on the art of Jim Lee
    • Price $59.99-75.00 (depending where you buy it)
    • Joker:  Hand-painted, cold-cast in porcelain and measuring approximately 7.6″ high x 5.25″ wide x 2.5″ deep, this statue is packaged in a 4-color box.
    • Harley:  Hand-painted, cold-cast in porcelain and measuring approximately 7.1″ high x 4.5″ wide x 3.75″ deep, this statue is packaged in a 4-color box.

Dec 052011

Here is another beautiful statue set issued by DC DIRECT this year that the Joker museum was lucky to get a hold of . It is not clear where the original concept came from, but from Joker’s attire I would say it was somewhat inspired by the showdown in IMPULSE #50, at least losely.  I personally like Joker’s ‘fresh’ clothes.  They are not the overused purple suit or the old straitjacket, but he sports a vest and a shirt more atone with the early 1940-50 style.

  • Release date (DC Direct) September 11, 2011 (But finally released on October 19, 2011)
  • Gotham City’s greatest hero and his deadliest foe battle for supremacy of the city! Each character is displayed on a specially designed stand-alone base intended to “interact” with the other statues in the series and to be displayed in a myriad of ways. The statues can pivot independently on their bases and rotate their heads to customize and direct the action. Collect the other statue sets in the series! Mix and match them to create your own showdown or combine them all in one ultimate battle statue
  • Statue designed and sculpted by Tim Bruckner
  • Limited Edition (750 issued), Hand painted, cold cast porcelain
  • Measurements:
    • Joker:  8 inches tall x 6 inches wide x 4 inches deep
    • Batman:   7.5 inches tall x 4 inches wide x 4.5 inches deep
  • Each set is packaged together in a 4 color box with COA

It’s time for another JOKER’S FUNHOUSE HIGHLIGHT Jokerholics!!

DC has produced 2 different animation maquettes from the BATMAN ANIMATED SERIES and the NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES respectively and of the two, this is the one I like most.  I like it so much that I had to pass on getting the other maquette just to get a hold of this one.

What is it I like most of this maquette?  Those expressive eyes, ready to unleash chaos like no other but with a large smile. How could you not at least smile…while you die when you see those eyes?  The second version of the animated Joker I think lost a lot when they made the eyes black, his skin blue and simplified the face features.  When I see this particular maquette, I can imagine Mark Hamill making the faces that had made this Joker a classic.  Here is your info on the maquette, pictures are provided at the bottom of the article.

The Animated Series reinvented the Dark Knight’s famed Rogues’ Gallery, reimagining that motley crew of villains in a new light. The Joker takes perverse joy in wreaking havoc upon the innocents of Gotham City, cackling with glee at the terror he creates!

  • DC Direct relase date: January 2004
  • Classic Animation Series
  • Limited-edition, hand-painted cold-cast porcelain maquette  (1400 statues produced)
  • Sculpted by: John G Matthews
  • Measures approximately 9 1/2″ tall x 4 1/4″ wide x 4 1/4″ deep
  • Includes a full color Certificate of Authenticity
  • Packaged in a 4-color box.

mini-comiJust wanted to announce that the JOKER’S LAIR has acquired two new Harley figures to add to the already large Harley collection at the JOKER’S FUNHOUSE MUSEUM.

The first one is the DC DIRECT AME-COMI HEROINE SERIES MINI HARLEY.  This Harley is a counterpart of the AME-COMI Full size figure (two times as big) and shows a beautiful posoe of Harley, tiptoing with her oversize gun ready for action. The figure was sculpted by Sam Greenwell.

no images were found

The second figure is the MUSEUM QUALITY HARLEY QUINN STATUE and companion to the MUSEUM QUALITY JOKER STATUE  issued a few months ago.  This figure  shows Harley, well armed with her pop gun and accompanied by her two pet hyenas that carry some dynamite and the torn bat-emblem we presume they either tore from the Caped crusader himself or just one of their toys.  The figure is beautifully posed, and great detail has been put on her clothing.  Though I have heard some complains about the face, I find this piece’s face quite appealing. Definitely less comic book looking and more realistic, shows a more mature Harley than its BTAS counterpart (which is what I  like most of the figure).
