Nice little article  preparing us on what to expect from HARLEY QUINN  when she stars in villain’s month DETECTIVE COMICS #23.2:

Following the explosive events of FOREVER EVIL #1, the Suicide Squad has disbanded. No longer a member of a team, Harley Quinn finds herself free for the first time without any ties to a particular group. On her quest for self-discovery, she returns to Gotham City – but it’s not the same place it was before she left it. So naturally, Harley has a little scheme to shake things up. But that’s all I’ll say about that for now …While Harley’s origin was told in the pages of SUICIDE SQUAD, there’s an untold chapter that will be revealed for the first time in this unique one-shot. You may think you know the whole story of her transition into a super-villain, but when you read the very first meeting between her and The Joker, you’ll see a whole different side of Harley than you’re used to. And for the diehard Harley Quinn fans out there, keep your eyes peeled for a few Easter eggs scattered throughout the issue – like a reference to THE BATMAN ADVENTURES: MAD LOVE (Harley’s first appearance in comics) and a nod to actress Arleen Sorkin, who voiced Harley on the television show, Batman: The Animated Series.

Bob Harras has announced some details of the upcoming appearace of the Joker in October’s BATMAN #23.1.  Here is an excerpt of what he had said in at the DC COMICS site:

I also told you that a classic and unexpected Batman villain will be appearing in the upcoming Villains Month one-shot, BATMAN #23.1: JOKER. Well today, I’m pleased to tell you that the villain I was talking about was none other than Jackanapes (who readers last saw in BATMAN, INCORPORATED #5). BATMAN #23.1: JOKER takes place many years ago – back when The Joker’s face was still intact. In fact, this unique one-shot marks one of the earliest appearances we’ve seen of this notorious villain so far in the New 52. While at a zoo, the Joker will have a flashback to a childhood memory that will trigger his need to take Jackanapes under his wing. It is here that Joker will take on a new, twisted role: that of a mentor. But why is he training Jackanapes to be a villain? What use will he have for him? –

OK, make your selection guys, because the speecial Edition for the upcoming ARKHAM ORIGINS game scheduled for October 25th will come in two editions with dramatic difference in contents.

First the UK ARKHAM ORIGINS SPECIAL EDITION that we had seen leaked from IGN: (PS3 and XBox360)

In addition to a copy of the game, the CE features an 80-page art book, metal game case, the Deathstroke Challenge Pack, and a “1st Appearance” Batman skin. Eight pages of information on the assassins hunting Batman come in a dossier as well. But the real appeal is in the 12-inch statue of Batman and The Joker. On PlayStation 3, Arkham Origins’ CE also includes the Knightfall pack.

The special edition will include a statue of the Joker featuring LED effects, an 80-page art book, two pieces of evidence, a Batman Wanted Poster along with Prototype Schematics for the Batwing, an Anarky logo stencil, a glow-in-the-dark map of Gotham, Wayne Family Photo and Intel Dossiers on the eight assassin’s along with Black Mask’s contract.

Additionally, a First Appearance Batman Skin will be included, allowing players to appear as Batman did on his debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, along with the Deathstroke Challenge Pack which unlocks two extra Deathstroke skins and bonus challenge maps.  Which one would you get?  I can live with either one…but I like the Joker in the American one.

Today’s spotlight is especially important to me, because in a humble effort to expand my collection I was able to get a hold of a very rare japanese figure (I’ve been hunting one of these since it’s release). It is the TAKARA TOMY 1/6th Vintage Joker figure from TOMY ENTERMEDIA. And here is my new figure:

jokercollectorA Jokerholic friend posted this in one of the galleries in my Joker museum but it is just such an insanely large and dedicated collection that I believed it deserved the spotlight.  I’m an avid collector of Joker and Harley too (more Joker than Harley have to confess) as you can see from my museum, but this collection left me awestruck and drooling like an idiot.

The owner of this magnificent collection is Mark Terrence Sy  who lives in the Philipines and it’s obvious he has been very busy with his collection.   There are items there I have not been able to find anywhere in the web…not even by reference.  I applaud his efforts for keeping Jokerdom alive and I give you a glimpse of his collection.

YOU CAN ALL DROOL NOW!

arkhamorigins-02In the gaming industry there are no boundaries, which is good when you have a potentially good character that with a little tweak could become a great character.  The latest character revamp in the GOTHAM CITY universe seems to be the snake-like criminial known simply as COPPERHEAD.

The earliest of incarnations of this character have been male, but for the third game of the ARKHAM CITY franchise: ARKHAM ORIGINS, the game designers made COPPERHEAD a FEMALE and gave her quite dangerous and sleek moves.  I loved the preview of the character showed at the ARKHAM ORIGINS panel.  Just take a look…

Sexy and dangerous…. even Joker would love a woman like that!

No question that conventions spark the creativity of fans (an companies alike) when presenting their creations at this monumental events.  SDCC is no exception being the biggest in the country.  On the convention floor there were LEGO sculptures of Batman, Robin and the Clown Prince of Crime.  I’ve seen all the efforts involved in creating sculptures like these (at my local Lego Store) so kudos to the architects and workers involved in making these works of art.

Here is the HARLEQUIN OF HATE in all his LEGO GLORY!

bmjokerJoker seemed to have been defeated at the end of DEATH OF THE FAMILY, but the truth is that the clown is a part of the Batman mythos from beginning to end.  At least that is what writer Scott Snyder revealed in a panel yesterday about his run on the current BATMAN: ZERO YEAR storyline.  Here are a few things he let out for the fans to figure out.

…Snyder narrates a page from issue #23, out Aug. 14, with Bruce Wayne confronted by The Red Hood Gang. There are a lot of secrets revealed in that scene, Snyder says…

In another part of the panel, Snyder continues:

…Issue #23 will contain a scene between Bruce Wayne and Alfred that Snyder says is “very personal” to him.

“Our Alfred is saying, ‘Bruce, you need to mean something. You need to matter,” Snyder explains.

In regards to any possible Joker connection, Snyder says the villain is a key part of his overall vision for Batman. “He haunts Batman forever. He haunts this story, and every story.”…

And finally, the burning question:

…Does the Red Hood Gang play into the origin of The Joker? Snyder: “You’ve got to read #24.”

Well, I guess the Jokerholics will have to wait a little longer to see how he fits the Joker in the ZERO YEAR storyline, and makes me wonder if he’s going to favor any of the tens of previously told Joker origin stories to tie him to this stage of Batman’s crimefighter life.  We’ll wait patiently Mr. Snyder, your talent has not disappointed us yet

OH AND DON’T FORGET that Joker will have a small cameo September’s VILLAIN MONTH  in a new (?) Joker/ Batman story set to develop in  the pages of BATMAN #23.1
