The covers for the November issues of BATMAN #14 and BATGIRL #14 have been circulating for the last few days, allowing for a little tease for the fans of the Clown Prince of Crime. While many people thought that DC was trying to bring Joker to his TDK look, the images show something different entirely…and the one for Batgirl makes me wonder if he has some unfinished business in mind with Barbara Gordon after The Killing Joke. Anyways…Here are the previews:

On the first image: I can’t shake the idea that J’s playing WoW. “Oh could you hold on a second, Bats? You showed up at an absolutely dreadful time – I’m in the middle of trying to level up my Night Elf!” J WOULD just have a huge computer setup like that. He uses it to keep track of Batman and spy on sleeping Gothamites. >:)
On the second image: That is… really creepy. O.o I still gotta wonder just HOW he is keeping that skin on, though… stitching? Pins? Skin glue? What happens when that eventually rots and falls off, huh? I don’t mind the stretched look; accents his grin more. But it’s a bit distracting when all I can think about is how the way he’s apparently got his face attached with a belt of some sort doesn’t make a lick of anatomical sense. It’s cool and creepy and gross and all, but it’s distracting. >.< Gotta love that he kept the suit though. J just isn't J without the suit. ^w^ Just perfect, a redesign while staying true to form. See, DC? THAT is how you reboot a character design-wise. ESPECIALLY a classic villain like the Joker. As much as I love the design he has in Batman: RIP and love him in general, white sleeveless jackets with slicked back hair and zero lips is really not the best look for the guy. But thank you for making him into a walking shirtless scene in that storyline. You have made Joker fangirls everywhere eternally grateful.
*snerk* Gotta love that he's trying to ask Batgirl to be his valentine there. Too bad J has a rather… unique way of doing so. Just seeing this image with Batgirl so powerless and J so smarmy and triumphant like that is just so… disturbing and wrong. There is nothing right about that image whatsoever, it causes my hair to stand on end. Makes me want to shower. Methinks the Joker's in good hands artwise. 🙂 I'm very pleased so far. Let's just hope the writing's up to my admittedly high, unrealistic expectations…
THe Joker playing WOW is an image I cannot get out of my head now…..thanks. I wonder what type of character hewould he create….
As for the skin on his face….I agree.
It goes beyond suspended disbelief. That thing has to have rotted away ages ago. Joker had his face removed like months ago (at least that is how long the court of owls seemed to be), and has been removed from its preserving container probably more than once (even Bullock once said to ‘get rid of it’. I still don’t get it, but maybe we should concentrate on characterization and not biology at this time…?
I’m crossing my fingers that they don’t f*** up this one like they have done most of the new 52 reboot…
